Chester Hearing and Balance Services is a fully independent hearing service which provides a full range of high quality private audiological services for those wishing to access these services in a timely manner in Cheshire and surrounding areas.
We understand the importance of hearing and ear care and the impact it can have on clients and therefore ensure we provide an excellent client-centred service to all. We are able to ensure that we provide the best care possible by tailoring assessments for each client including the formulation of an individualised management plan.
Our team is comprised of a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser and a Registered Clinical Scientist both of whom are HCPC registered ensuring that we have the necessary training and experience to provide an extensive range of audiological services.

Each member of the team at Chester Hearing and Balance Services is registered with the relevant professional body to ensure high quality care.
Our hearing aid audiologist and clinical scientist in audiology are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
We have strong links with local professionals including the ENT Consultants from the Countess of Chester and Grosvenor Nuffield Hospitals.

Dr Sarah Hodgson
AuD, PG Dip, CCC, BSc (Hons), RHAD
Our Hearing Aid Audiologist, Dr Sarah Hodgson, started her career within the audiological field in 2001.
Sarah has extensive knowledge and experience within a wide range of areas in audiology and is dedicated to progressing her knowledge and delivering first class client care. In support of this, she has completed her Doctorate of Audiology with Nova Southeastern University, Florida in 2008.
Sarah’s experience includes working in both the NHS and private sector, as well as a lecturing role at the University of Manchester. Sarah has worked independently in private practice since 2008 and is currently Clinical Lead for Adult Diagnostics and Bone Anchored Hearing Aid Service at The Countess of Chester Hospital, Audiology Department. With Sarah’s passion for audiology she has developed and managed the audiology service for adults with complex needs at the Countess of Chester.
In conjunction with Susan Donald she has realised her vision for a first class independent practice dedicated to the hearing care of individuals of all ages and this continues to go from strength to strength with the hard work and dedication of the team.
Our Clinical Scientist in Audiology
Susan Donald
CS, CAC, MSc, BSc (Hons)
Following successful completion of a Masters degree in Audiology at the University of Manchester in 2005, Susan has gained extensive experience of providing a full range of audiology services in the NHS. She completed her Clinical Scientist training at The Countess of Chester Hospital where she has since progressed to the role of Head of Audiology and Lead for the Paediatric Audiology Service.
She has completed further training in tinnitus assessment and management and has experience of working with adults and children with sound sensitivities such as tinnitus and hyperacusis. Susan and Sarah founded Chester Hearing and Balance Services LLP in 2012 providing a range of high quality hearing services to adults, children and young people. Susan has been a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist in Audiology since May 2009. She is also a HCPC registered Hearing Aid Dispenser.
She is a member of the professional bodies in Audiology including the British Academy of Audiology, British Society of Audiology, British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists as well as the British Tinnitus Association.
